Ipods, More than a Music Player

Your Ipod, what a magnificent device... It can do so much. May I suggest using it for more than music. Have you ever downloaded a video or audio podcast. They are available from Itunes on a variety of topics - some fun (hockey, yoga, games, entertainment and movies) and some educational (history, learn french, how to cook, science, nature) You name it...Also available from Itunes is Itunes U - classes from world famous universities. They can also be used to read or listen to books. If you are lucky enough to have an Ipod touch - the possibilities are endless. For information on what one can do with their Ipod talk to Mr. Brown.

Video Sites

A Few Good Educational Video Sites

1) Aliant Learning site consists of hundreds of excellent educational streaming video on a wide variety of topics. To access an account must be set up (takes minutes), also does
not stream in Firefox.
2) Nova Scotia Department of Education - Learning Resources and Technology Service A source of videos for teachers for loan and sometimes dubbing.
3) TeacherTube - Teach the world A website whose stated goal is to provide an online community for sharing instructional teacher videos.
4) Ted Talks Ideas Worth Spreading. A personal favorite this site consists of 18-20 minutes video talks by world experts in the fields of technology, education and design. Motivational and often with a philantropic slant. 4 stars...
